DescriptionUnreviewed

Several types of joints are associated with the vertebral column:

  • the Fibrous joints of vertebral column
  • the Cartilaginous joints of vertebral column
  • and the Synovial joints of vertebral column

The major joints are the intervertebral symphysis, which are cartilaginous joints, but all the ligaments are described within the fibrous joints.

The synovial joints are more specific:

the zygapophysial joints, the atlanto-axial joints, and the uncovertebral joints.
